How to Use the Horse Racing Bet Calculator
The calculator lets you determine how many combinations your selections create and the total amount needed to place the wager.
1. Select the Track
Choose PJC or MMTC. The calculator automatically applies the corresponding minimum bet unit for the selected track.
2. Select Your Wager
Choose the wager you want to calculate. The calculator includes both single-race exotics and multi-race wagers:
- Trifecta — Select the exact 1st, 2nd, and 3rd finishers.
- Quartet — Select the exact 1st through 4th finishers.
- Pentafecta — Select the exact 1st through 5th finishers.
- Super 6 — Select the exact 1st through 6th finishers.
- DD+1 — Pick the winner of 3 consecutive races.
- Pick 4 — Pick the winner of 4 consecutive races.
- Pick 5 — Pick the winner of 5 consecutive races.
- Pick 6 — Pick the winner of 6 consecutive races.
- Winner Take All — Pick the winner of 7 consecutive races.
3. Choose Your Ticket Type
For single-race exotic wagers, you can choose:
Straight — One exact finishing combination.
Box — Select several horses and cover every possible finishing order among the selected horses.
Wheel — Select horses for each finishing position. The calculator counts only valid combinations in which the same horse is not used more than once in a single combination.
4. Select Your Horses
For Box and Wheel wagers, enter the number of horses running in the race, then select your horses using the numbered buttons.
For multi-race wagers, select the horses you want to cover in each race.
The calculator automatically updates the number of combinations as you make or remove selections.
5. Set the Bet Multiplier
The Bet Multiplier lets you increase the amount wagered on each combination. A multiplier of 1 means you are betting the minimum unit on each combination. A multiplier of 2 doubles the amount, and so on.
6. Check the Tote Board
The Tote Board Readout shows:
- Minimum Bet Unit — The applicable minimum wager for the selected track and bet.
- Combinations — The total number of valid combinations covered by your selections.
- Total Cost — The amount required for the complete wager.
The calculator updates these figures automatically as you change your selections.
Important
This calculator determines combinations and wager cost only. It does not predict dividends or payouts. Actual dividends depend on the parimutuel betting pool and are determined after betting closes.
